Hot town, summer in the city

Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty. Been down, isn't it a pity, doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city.  All around, people looking half dead, walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head.  (Thanks, Loving Spoonful.)

Actually, it wasn’t that bad!  We had a small breeze off the lake for most of the walk and our stop for breakfast at the market meant that most of us were carrying parcels and were doing more of a stroll than a power walk on the way back to High Park.  For newcomers - this will not be standard!  We usually eat after the walk.  But on such a hot weekend, it was just the ticket.

We started at different times, owing to a misunderstanding about when we move the start time to 8.  Some thought it was the July first weekend, others thought it was the first Saturday in July.  Next week, the start time is definitely 8, except for those training long distances who will start even earlier.

Don’t miss Diane’s blogpost next week.  She will outline the social events planned for the rest of the summer.  You might want to let your non-walking friends know that you’re unlikely to have time to spend with them till the fall.
